He is a keen enthusiast and race driver and has been involved in the sport since a very young age, competing nationally with lots of success.

Trevor Catt

Trevor Catt has taught for 15 years and now is proprietor of a vehicle repair shop.  He is a member of the IMI and has been part of author teams for popular repair manuals.  He has also written examination questions for City and Guilds.

Richard Miller

Member of the IMI and IRTE

Richard Miller carried out his apprenticeship attaining a full Technological Certificate, HNC in Motor Vehicle Engineering management and the IRTE finals.  His career progressed through to Service Manager and then Fleet Engineer for an international transport company.  He is now the centre co-ordinator for the IMI motor vehicle courses at an FE college.  Richard is a member of the IMI and IRTE.

Scot Layton

Author description

Scot Layton is a Workbased Learning Program Co-ordinator at Stephenson College, Coalville, teaching on a range of programmes from Level 1 through to Level 4.  In addition to this, he also co-ordinates and develops the Automotive Centre of Excellence (CoVE).

Author Description

Dave started his writing career co-authoring updates to the popular Hillier's Motor Vehicle Technology series of books. He then authored his own unique publication, dedicated to the Engine Combustion Pressure Measurement task (which is used extensively in the development of modern combustion engines and powertrains).

Brian is currently working as an Automotive Engineering Lecturer at Anniesland College. He has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, reaching Vauxhall Master Technician status.
